How do i put a url in a host file and where do i find the host file to put it in?

I still cant get the trojon to clean out. I have adware remover 2007, and microsoft virus protection. Do i need a tech? Is my computer out of date? I refuse to walk the car repair red carpet. im not sure if i want to spend one more pennie on cable internet if this is all the protection and FUN i can get for my dollar. Help

on a windows xp system the location of the file is.



\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\ click my computer, hard drive (i.e C:) then windows, system32 etc . system32 is in the windows folder, drivers is in the system32 folder etc.



you edit it with notepad.



this is the sort of thing you need to add to the file.



127.0.0.1 www.unwanted.com ( replace www.unwanted.com with the actual domain)

I'm not clearly understand your question description. Why do you need to use url on host file. It only help if the website you are browsing is using static IP. For trojan, you need to use at least 2 anti-spyware to scan it, the same thing to virus, you might have to go to safe mode to do that. You also need to backup your data before doing any scan job. Last thing, clean up your Internet Temporary folder and Temp folder in Documents and Setting\yourusername\Local Setting. That will help a lot.
