Linux vs windows?

i have done various courses rangeing from A+ to mcp and N+

a couple of years ago so i am abit out of the loop.

my laptop is constantly been infected with viruses an adware (im using AVG free addition virus protection and adware remover )

would switching to a linux os help protect my laptop from infection . so i guess the real question is windows XP or linux red hat 9 ??

p.s iv also started a web site are there any easy to use web design builders for linux . . ( i have dream weaver MX and other free web site builder )

Linux is somewhat superior in terms of security and flexibility, also comparatively linux hosting is cheaper than window.
In answer. I'd suggest something like Ubuntu.

In some respects there's actually more *free* choice of web design software. Installation is as simple as using the Synaptics package manager to find what you want and install it. No hunting around on Google for the right commercial package to do what you want anymore.

Bear in mind that 70% of websites use the LAMP platform which is Linux Apache MySQL and PHP. Although three of these will run on windows there are issues if you want to to do local testing of a website.
thats why I use linux mint I have been virus free for a year now it would tear my xp apart in less then a week with the best AV and firewall. I would recomend ubuntu based distros before redhat they have far better support linux mint, pc linux, ubuntu, dream linux, etc
In theory, at least, you sound like a good candidate to use Linux, however the choice is up to you.
