Problam with windows?

I have a toshiba laptop ,when I was running a adware remover program the computer got stuck and when i tried to restart the computer, the computer starts and goes to the windows welcome screen(windows xp) and then the computer screen goes blank (or black). i tried to start in safe mode, and in last good configuration mode, but nothing happen , the black screen appear. what can i do ? If I have to format the C: . is there any way that i can get my files from the hard drive? please help me. Plzzzz



I have the recovery CD. Windows XP for my laptop.

I agree with highbriddrummonkey..will just add that the f2 key "thing" is the way to get you into the bios whilst booting up...some computers its not the f2 key but the delete key.



From memory the boot up sequence (to make your disk drive first in the boot up sequence) can be altered in "advanced configuration" in the Bios...it shows you what keys to use to alter the sequence %26 save/exit at the base of the bios window

I would go down the repair option route too........start the PC and watch the screen...press F2 when it prompts you to do so to enter set up.....navigate using the arrow keys till you see the part that says "boot from" and change the order so that CD ROM is first...save these setting then exit. Now put your xp disk in and shut down...watch the screen...you will see "press any key to boot from disk".. hit any key. The xp disk will examine your system then give you options, choose to repair existing copy of windows. Hope that helps
Okay if you are going to recover your files you need to somehow get a boot-up disk for Microsoft XP~ then book from it...
