Help! I have Nortons and adware but somehow I got bogged down with this crap. NOT letting my kids on here ever again!!!

stopbadware.org has lots of free down loads and is safe to use and they have a lot of really good info on there. I used them and it helped.
If it's a trojan it's probably not your kids fault. Trojans install themselves without anyone knowing about them - often hidden in some other download but sometimes they just appear by themselves.

Adware, spyware and virus removers often have little effect and in many cases it's a manual procedure you'll need to follow.

Fortunately there's usually help at hand. Use a search engine and chances are you'll come across a forum or webpage where someone has posted removal instructions. If the trojan is called XYZ then just search for "remove XYZ" and you'll probably find something.

There are a number of FREE good programs out there to scan and clean your system

Normally one malware scanner isn't good enough to find everything and its good to scan your system with a couple different programs.

Never a good idea to run more than 1 "real time" scan programs
I think spybot will do it. You can get it off tucows or safer-netwoking.org
