I can not figure it out. I have scanned with Adware-Alert, Trend Micro, and Trojan Remover and it still runs slow. Any suggestions. My computer was just upgraded to 1256 mbs of ram. And has 50 gbs of free space 2ghz AMD 3200+ proc.

Bottom line:
The slow behavior seems to be caused by add-ins.
It seems mostly to be caused by the Make PDF add-in. That's my initial observation. Turning off the add-ins has dramatically improved the performance of both Word 2007 and Outlook 2007.
Here's how: You must be logged in as Administrator.
In Outlook, go to Tools鈥?gt;Trust Center.
Click on Add-ins in the left panel.
At the bottom of the window click on the Go button (Manage: COM Add-ins).
Uncheck any add-ins you don't need or you think might be causing a problem.
Click on OK.
I exited and restarted Outlook at this point. I don't know if it's necessary.
For Word 2007
Click on the Logo button (upper left corner).
Click on the Word Options in the bottom right.
Select Add-ins in the left panel.
Do the same steps as in Outlook.
After making these changes, Word 2007 and Outlook 2007 started working the way they should.

Best thing to do is a system restore to a time you know your PC was OK. Click Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore. This will restore your settings to as they were on that day.
I hope this helps
Unless you are an advanced computer user DO NOT ATTEMPT to restore your system to an earlier state. You may have a lot of background or startup applications running. While not memory intensive, MS Word commands a fairly good share of your system's memory. Before doing anything, I would consult with a specialist.
