I got this message "Trojan horse detected" a few days ago. I kind of ignored it. Today I was checking a website and it would not let me click on any images. I keep getting "Operation Aborted message" and it gives me the "The Page cannot be displayed mesage" plus my browser window turns to this http:////
Next thing my background screen turned blue and now I have a message stating" WARNING SPYWARE DETECTED ON YOUR COMPUTER . INSTALL AN ANTIVIRUS OR SPYWARE REMOVER TO CLEAN YOUR COMPUTER" Plus a pop message came on "Trojan Adware Spyshredder detetected.. It told me to click a link. I did not click and immediately turned my pc off.
Am I at a substantial risk for being hacked? Example: paying bills online or hacked passwords.
Thanks in advance for any help .
Trojan Horse detected? How much of a personal risk?nortan antivirus
Yes. I expect you have already been attacked. A trojan virus can do almost anything. They can harvest your email and send everyone on it more viruses or just feed the hackers database of new email addresses. It can also read your files and pass critical information. It could also read your keyboard and pass whatever passwords, account numbers or anything else to their own servers to be sold to the highest bidder.
Do yourself a favor and make sure you have a REAL virus protector in place and keep it up to date. DO NOT use one of the free registry scrubbers or antivirus tools so many here suggest. Some of these are ok, but far too many are themselves evilware and most of them are pretty flimsy. Some actually implant other spyware, adware or even viruses or trojans on your system and make things worse--far worse.
